1. Airport
For the conference in Krakow, participants can fly directly to Balice airport, the best-connected airport, Pyrzowice airport 77km from Krakow, or the main airport in Warsaw 280km.
a) Balice – Kraków Airport (info)
The John Paul II International and Domestic Airport Kraków Balice is located at the outskirts of the city. How to get the city:
TRAIN
It is the fastest way to get from the airport to the city center (the journey takes about 17 minutes) is the shuttle train service, which links the airport with the Kraków's Main Railway Station located in the city center. The new Kraków Airport train station is located near the passenger terminal, at the rear of the multi-storey car park. The connection is operated by Koleje Małopolskie (regional railways company operating in Małopolska Region). Trains are equipped with air conditioning, power outlets, Wi-Fi and ticket machines. All trains also have spaces for disabled passengers and persons with reduced mobility (PRM). Please, check timetable each time before your travel here.
BUS
Kraków Airport is served by regular buses. These are Public Agglomeration Bus Lines. Travel time is about 45 min.
b) Pyrzowice – Katowice Airport (info)
Wojciech Korfanty Katowice Airport is located 77km from Kraków. To get to Krakow from the airport, one must either use private bus companies that run from the airport or cab companies. An additional option is to drive from the airport to the train station in Katowice and choose a train directly to Krakow.
c) Chopin – Warsaw Airport (info)
Chopin Airport is Poland's largest airport handling most international and domestic flights. It is located about 280km from Krakow which is about 3h by train or bus.
2. Train
The city can be easily and comfortably accessed by train from all larger cities in Poland and Europe. Location of the train station "Kraków Główny" (meaning "Main station" in Polish). The main train station is a few minutes' walk from the center of Krakow.
3. Public transport in Kraków
Krakow has a very well-connected transportation network. Bus and streetcar stops are in close proximity to facilitate transfers. Sometimes they even use the same transfer hub.
There are vending machines at major bus stops where we can purchase transportation tickets with cash or with a credit card. Most streetcars and buses also have this option, but not all of them, so it is recommended to purchase tickets before entering the buses/trams.
We can recommended to install an application that allows you to purchase tickets online on your phone (for example: jakdojade). We remind you that after buying such a ticket, you need to enter the special bus/tram number, which can be found inside the vehicle on a blue board usually pasted near the entrance.
